It's a four-season wonderland. It starts with a few drops from an icicle. A blue sky day where just a sweater will do. The unmistakable thunder of a waterfall coming back to life. A fawn scrambles up a hill, migrating birds skim the coastline, and buds swell on the trees. It's spring on the North Shore. For those who love peaceful solitude and a serene setting there's no better time to visit. Hike our forests and watch the landscape soften into a lush and lovely fusion of colors, sounds and sights.

For many people it wouldn't be summer without a North Shore vacation. Here we keep cool at the shore with Lake Superior's natural air conditioning while enjoying summer's warmth inland. Azure blue lakes and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area jump with world class fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. There are art shows, galleries, and local crafts. We have mountains to bike, losh forests to hike, some of the best golf anywhere, and lodging to make the most of it all. A tinge of gold on the ridge... a splash of red on the hill... fall is under way. Mid-September through mid-October is one of our most popular times. Birch, aspen, and maple trees put on a spectacular display and vistas stretch for miles in a crazy quilt of extravagant color. Overhead, migrating eagles and hawks take it all in. At day's end, curl up by a crackling fire and enjoy a hot cider as the sun slips behind the mountains.

When the flakes begin to fly the North Shore turns into a scene straight out of Currier & Ives. Chickadees stay on to decorate our branches and there's so much to do you'll have to keep moving just to fit it all in. It's not hard. From skiing, snowshoeing, and sleigh rides to shopping, apres ski, and snowmobiling there's plenty to occupy your days.
