4. CARLTON PEAK ROAD
This route combines a firm, easy-riding surface with an off-road feel. It begins at the Sawbill Trail 3 miles north of Tofte, where parking is available at the Britton Peak parking lot. From here, cross the Sawbill to the west and ride the trail for 1.5 miles to the base of the solid granite pinnacle of Carlton Peak. From the trail's end, it is only a 5-minute hike to the top for some of the most breathtaking views around.
5. SUGARBUSH SYSTEM
The Sugarbush Trail System is a cros-country ski trail system that departs for a trail head at Britton Peak, 3 miles north of Highway 61 on the Sawbill Trail. It continues to undergo improvements in drainage and grading to accommodate summer mountain biking. All trails are grass covered and vary from level to hilly. The riding surface is quite firm and acceptable on the trails signed for biking during dry conditions. Some areas become soft and wet after heavy rains, demanding much more effort to bike.
6. TOFTE TRAIL
The Tofte Trail begins just across the Sawbill from the Sugarbush Trails and follows a gradual downhill slope to Tofte. The riding surface is grass covered and is fairly dry and firm in most conditions. Two small creeks can easily to forded without getting wet, except after heavy rains.
LUTSEN MOUNTAINS BIKE PARK
The Lutsen Mountain Bike Park extends over two mountains and includes 32 miles of marked trails. Terrain varies from casual riding to advanced technical descents. The combination of lift access with single track, works roads, open slopes and ledge rock make this a spectacular riding playground in the Midwest for all skill levels.
